A year ago today I wrote a post called “In the Works”. Since it’s been a year, I figured it was about dang time I wrote a new one, and let you guys know all about what mischief I’m currently getting into!
My current works:
- Haven – YA Fantasy
- The Aldar Dominion – Adult/NA Science Fiction
- The Queen of Thieves – Adult Steampunk
- Savages – YA Fantasy
- Sanctum – NA Speculative Fiction (superhero)
Those are my books so far – the ones I’ve been working hard to complete and get going. While Haven is clearly published already, it is a constant work in progress to learn about Marketing, thus why I’m still counting it! I also happens to be working on some short stories/novellas for it… so there’s also that.
This time last year I’d cleared around 30k in THE ALDAR DOMINION, and didn’t finish writing until November 31st. NaNoWriMo, thank you! I think this was the fastest I’ve ever written. Now a good example of how the editing process is a damn long one, I’m STILL working on it. Though this is a final polish through, I thought many a times I was done. No less than 6 drafts later, one critique partner, a bunch of beta readers and a professional edit, I’m still going, but getting close. Very close. Finally, I can see the light at the end of the editing tunnel, and boy is that light bright.
THE QUEEN OF THIEVES is my current baby. I love this book. I love the concept, the plot, the characters, the world. ALL of it. Though I’m only a little over 30k in, I think about it constantly, manufacturing more world building elements, conversations that have yet to happen, and action scenes that I’m dying to write. I’m also working on it with my new critique partner, who is amazing by the by, and helping this first draft feel like the 3rd or 4th at least! By the time this book is done, I have a feeling it’ll be the most polished “first draft” in history.
Now I know a lot of people are wondering about the status of SAVAGES, as it is the sequel to Haven. Let me tell you, it is in the works! Its been completely plotted except for the very end (though I do generally know what will happen), and I have started writing it. So it IS coming, I assure you!
Last but not least, the book that launched me on this writing journey, SANCTUM. This time last year I started the rewrite, and since then it hasn’t gotten far. With so many other projects on the go, its gotten pushed back time and time again. I am sorry about that, but at the same time, I’m glad, because I know when its finally finished, it will be my best book yet.
That’s all guys! Those are my works in progress. There’s a lot going on, and a lot still to get through, but I’m so excited by where these books are going, and unbelievably pumped to share them with you all. If you want to know more about the books and their general plot, check out the My Novels section of my website for a quick overview of each.
Thanks for stopping by, and I’ll see you next time!
Stay classy internet.
