The images that inspired Savages

Hello all!

Long time no see! It’s been a while since I updated or wrote anything on this website (as you may have guessed). Well, it’s been two weeks since the official launch of Savages and I am SO happy to say that it is doing great! As of this evening we’re closing on 300 sales (including pre-orders) and I am over the moon with gratitude!

So before I get started on some of the inspiration behind Savages, thank you. Seriously. Thank you to every one who’s been there during this launch, who bought the book, or who lended a retweet or share. You guys ROCK, and I am so grateful.

Now on to the pretty pictures! 😉 We both know that’s what you’re really here for.

**WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD.**

THE SCENERY

Would you ever guess this book takes place in a desert 98% of the time? No? Well I don’t know how I can be more clear about that. (lol jokes)

THE CHARACTERS

BREEN

The warrior. The mother. The survivor.

“I never lose.”

Breen is one hell of a woman. Stubborn. Strong. Cut-throat when she needs to be, but
rather awkward when it comes to just about anything not involving a blade.

She bears a striking resemblance to Khutulun of Netflix’s Marco Polo. Though Breen might look a bit different, her braids were definitely inspired by the warrior princess.

But whatever you do, it’s probably best to stay on her good side.

Never has she been so angry. Never had she wanted to kill so badly. Blood pumped through her veins and angry tears stung the back of her eyes.
“You will not hurt my family.

DRAKKONE

The lieutenant. The father. The savior.

“Why do you do this?”
“It’s the right thing to do.”

Drakkone is probably the best man in the entire world. No joke. Not only does he put up with Breen’s crap, but he also… you know… saves her life. No big.

Enduring the loss of not only his country, but his family, Drakkone never falters, never fails, and never gives up.

“I told you I’d get you out of there.”

NINA

The gifted. The daughter. The innocent.

Honestly, Nina is probably the cutest little baby in existence (not biased at all), but for those of you who’ve read Haven, you know how her story goes. But Nina wasn’t always the powerful pre-teen. Once upon a time she was a toddler with intelligence beyond her years, and a gift she had yet to grasp.

“You and Daddy can [protect me]. I want to help them, Mumma. I want to help you.”

MISC

Lastly, these are just a few of the photos that inspired some of the streets of Seaburn, as well as the tents in the Delica Tribe.

Most of these photos came directly from google. I claim NO ownership over any of them, and am simply using them as inspiration. You can find any of these images via google.

Well, that’s it for the images I kept stored away. While I did spend a fair amount of time looking through images, most of what you see in the book came straight out of my head. Seaburn has been featured in two books now, and most of its story has been told. Though I have some short stories in mind for the future, I won’t reveal anymore than that for now!

The last novel in the Chronicles of Warshard will release in the fall, and we’ll be back to the six kingdoms for the majority of it!

I do hope you enjoyed this post! If you haven’t read Savages yet, you can grab a copy on any of these retailers:

Amazon – Kobo – iBooks – Barnes & Noble

Plus, read the first three chapters free right here on my blog! (Just look under the Chronicles of Warshard tab)

Thanks for reading, and I’ll see you guys again soon!

Stay classy internet!

Kat
