Katherine Bogle’s debut young adult novel, Haven, came second in the World’s Best Story contest 2015. She currently resides in Saint John, New Brunswick with her partner in crime, and plethora of cats.

In 2009, Katherine put pen to paper (literally), writing her first novel, and soon-to-be document collecting virtual dust. Though she has spent the majority of her life weaving stories and writing short fiction, it wasn’t until 2012, half-way through her two year college program, that Katherine finished Sanctum, the novel to kick off her true love for novel length works. For the first time the publishing world opened its pearly white gates, and so far, it hasn’t let go.

In 2013 Katherine graduated from Holland College’s Photography & Digital Imaging program where she learned about art, design, entrepreneurship and how to wield Photoshop like a weapon.

Post-graduation, she worked for local Saint John photographers; Walt Malone (Time Capsule Photography), Martin Flewwelling (Flewwelling Photography) and David Duchesne (Oak Tree Photography). After working with local photographers and commanding her own photography business, she moved on to her true passion in life – writing.

Since then Katherine has written seven novels ranging from Fantasy to Science Fiction and Young Adult to Steampunk. She is currently dreaming about taking over the publishing world, as well as writing the sequel to her debut science fiction novel.

  • Katherine has traveled to Ireland, Scotland, England, Whales & Cuba.
  • Sanctum, the second book Katherine ever wrote, came 6th in the World’s Best Story competition (2014), before Haven came in 2nd the following year.
  • She is fluent in both English and French.
  • She is from a small town called Quispamsis, who no one seems to be able to pronounce correctly.
  • Four cats roam her current household (though she once had EIGHT!)
  • Though not a big fan of coffee, she drinks it on a daily basis (writer fuel!)
  • She is extremely fond of list making and goal setting. Ask her zillions of notebooks full of lists. No seriously. Zillions.

Release Date: May 10th, 2016
Publisher: Friesen Press

Princess Haven was never meant to be Queen.

Her immortality has saved her time and time again, but when the last of her royal family dies at her feet, she is next in line to rule a nation on the brink of war. With no formal training on how to be Queen, Haven must rise to the occasion with the help of her best friends, and personal guard, or risk losing everyone she has ever loved.

With war to the West, and no escape to the East, the evil tyrant Kadia sets her sights on the six kingdoms. Haven’s neighbors are quick to fall under the swords of Kadia’s shadow soldiers, leaving a sea of bodies and a clear path to Haven’s only home. Haven must make a choice; take her people and flee to the foreign Republic across the sea or lead a last stand against a powerful dictator.

“Queen Kadia was a perfectly written villain, equal parts insane and evil.” – RealLifary

“The author tells the entire story; embedding the setting firmly in my mind while spinning the story line in her own unique way. I appreciate that things get a little gritty for the main character, adding realism where you least expect it.” – Amazon Reviewer

“The world itself was one I really enjoyed. She [Bogle] created a flurry of beautiful and interesting lands; from Rythern to Salander, it was easy to sink into these places. My personal favourite was Seaburn. Bogle really shined with her description here, completely allowing the reader to immerse themselves in the culture and people. It felt like you were there, among the sights, smells, and tastes, and I really applaud her for that.” – Fictions Mistress

“The world is huge, I feel like we only got a taste of it. The crazy Queen was soooooo messed up. I couldn’t help cringing during her scenes.” – Amazon Reviewer

“This book is excellent! I absolutely love the creativity of this story, and that Haven is such a unique character. There is never a dull moment in this well spun fantasy world, and it will keep you at the edge of your seat as you wait to find out what will happen to Haven, her friends, and her kingdom. This novel is a fun fantasy that is easy to read, well paced and enjoyable for any age group from teen and up.” – Amazon Reviewer
